With his arm safely around her, Jonny gazed contentedly at the sunset. As Susan leaned into him she felt adored and secure with Jonny’s arm around her lower back. In Susan’s right hand she held two delicate, slightly withered daisies that Jonny had picked earlier. The weathered, rickety bench creaked and Susan snuggled even closer to Jonny. Patiently waiting, Buddy the dog was eager for Jonny to take him fishing, but Jonny was paying no attention to anyone or anything but Susan. As the sun began to become less visible, Jonny grasped Susan’s small hands in his, called his disappointed but joyful dog, and headed in the direction of Susan’s charming yellow cottage.
Last Christmas, my friend gave me this picture and we joked around that Norman Rockwell could foresee the year 2005-09, because it looked like me and a guy I liked and we just joked about it and laughed. It’s a great picture, if you were to turn it around and wee the two people’s faces, you would see my face (Coby Smarks’ face) and the guy I liked (Taylor Scores’ face). It is a beautiful picture and it is hanging up in my room!
Picture is on google home page today (2/3/10). The first impression was that is a nice picture to post. It reminded me that it’s really simple stuff (the hug, the flower and the pretty sunset) that make my wife happy and draws me closer.
My wife have been married 26 years.During our first pregnancey this picture hung on the wall at the Doctors office.Since then,we thought it was us in the picture with our beagle by our side.I still hold my sweet wife that same way.Seeing this picture today brings back memories of our early days.He was an artist that knew how to capture the moment.
When I was a young girl growing up in the country, I remember spending a few minutes, from time to time, gazzing at that very picture. I had it hanging in my room…brings back fond memories. Thanks for sharring!!!
Observations:
-The patch on the boy’s behind seems to be of the same fabric as the girl’s dress.
-The boy has no legs. Polo was horrid in those days (the good ‘ole days).
-The boy has the girl’s knickers hanging from his rear pocket. —Probably just being considerate.
-The bench is constructed in a way that violates the laws of Newtonian physics and could not possibly exist above the quantum level.
-The bench’s plank of wood is made from modern composition board that would not be invented for about 60 years after this picture was painted. The board is also too thin to support their weight.
-The girl’s shoes indicate a foot size equivalent to that of an adult male, size 11D.
-The genus of the flower is a complete mystery, but looks to be a genetically modified daisy.
-The dog has the fish hook firmly planted in his foot pad. This is painful and cruel.
-The body proportions of both figures are as distorted as Popeye’s arms. Since the boy has no legs, he is more feasible than the girl. Both figures have necks that are about 4 times longer than homo sapiens of any age can have.
-For a more tender and poignant rendering of young love, listen to Tom Waits’ song “Kentucky Avenue” on his “Blue Valentine” album.
Keep your music to yourself Donnie Hoffman. If you think this art is as simple as ‘young love’ you have bigger problems than bad taste in music. Not to mention everything else you said was wrong.
Further karly stromquist: you are an imbecile. I hope you don’t write often. Or ever. Or ever again.
Donnie Hoffman is obviously lying in an attmept to incite anger in the viewer for his own pleasure. People are entitled to their own opinions anyway, so if someone doesn’t agree, then just ignore it and let him think and do his own thing his own way.

You’re overthinking it buddy. Quantum physics and newtonian laws? Really?
Anyways..the boy does have legs..they’re just crossed and most of his legs are hidden by the dog.

the greatest harm you can do to an idiot is to let him continue on his path
